![]() The office of ECI has the responsibility of conducting the Parliament election, Legislature elections of every state and offices of President and Vice President. The office of ECI consists of Chief Election Commissioner, Election Commissioners and additional commissioners. The Election Commission of India was set up on 25 th January, 1950 in accordance with the Constitution of India. The Voter ID is also known as Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC). ![]() It was first introduced in the independent India in 1993, during the tenure of Chief Election Commissioner T. required for carrying out the daily activities which require the authentication from the user. Voter ID also serves the purpose of identity proof, address proof, age proof etc. It allows the citizens to cast their votes in the nation’s municipal, assembly and national elections. Voter ID is a legal identity document issued to the citizens of India, who are of or above the age of 18, by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
